STATE MINING CORPORATION (STAMICO) is a public parastatal under the Ministry of Energy and Minerals established by the Public Corporation Act cap 257 through State Mining Corporation establishment Order No. 163 of 1972 as amended in 2014.
Legal Unit headed by the Corporation Secretary is vested to attend to all legal matters pertaining to the Corporation and its subsidiaries.
FUNCTIONS OF LEGAL UNIT
(i) To advise on all legal matters of the Corporation Subsidiaries and joint venture company.
(ii) To register, manage and monitor agreements and contracts
(iii) Take custody of the seal of the Corporation and all legal documents
(iv) To provide consultancy and advisory services on legal aspects of mining including agreements negotiation and contract drafting
(v) To provide secretariat services to the Board of Directors and management meetings
(vi) To represent the Corporation in the Court of law.
