Ms. Loy Mhando is experienced legal professional and Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania with over 20 years of expertise in intellectual property, international trade, and regulatory governance.
She specializes in intellectual property systems, legal policy development, and institutional governance, with a focus on enhancing innovation and regulatory efficiency.
Ms. Mhando currently serves as Deputy Registrar and Director of Industrial Property at BRELA, where she leads the administration and modernization of Tanzania’s intellectual property systems. She has played a key role in strengthening institutional capacity and stakeholder engagement at national and international levels.
She holds a Master of Laws (LL.M) in International Trade, Contracts and Dispute Resolution from the University of Turin, a Postgraduate Diploma in Mediation and Arbitration, and an LL.B from the University of Dar es Salaam. She has also completed executive leadership training at the Uongozi Institute.
Ms. Mhando is a member of several professional bodies, including the Tanganyika Law Society and East Africa Law Society.
She brings to the Board strong legal and regulatory expertise, leadership in institutional development, and a commitment to innovation and governance excellence.
