STAMICO Commitment to Health, Safety and Environment

STAMICO is committed to responsible mining that protects people, preserves the environment, and supports sustainable development in Tanzania. Across our mining operations, contract drilling services, geological and mining technical services, and mineral trading activities, we integrate health, safety, and environmental considerations into every stage of our business.

Our approach is guided by the STAMICO Environmental Policy, Occupational Health and Safety Policy, and the Corporation’s Sustainability Framework. These commitments are implemented through management systems aligned with ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems and ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.

STAMICO operates in full compliance with national legislations including the Environmental Management Act, the Mining Act, and occupational safety regulations administered by the Occupational Safety and Health Authority (OSHA) and the National Environment Management Council (NEMC).

Through responsible environmental stewardship and safety leadership, STAMICO contributes to national development priorities and global sustainability goals including the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Africa’s Agenda 2063, and Tanzania Development Vision 2050.

Our Approach

STAMICO integrates health, safety, and environmental management into corporate governance, operational planning, and project development. We apply a risk-based approach to identify, assess, and manage environmental and occupational hazards across all activities.

Our HSE management systems ensure that environmental protection, workplace safety, and community wellbeing remain central to decision-making throughout the Projects lifecycle. Continuous monitoring, training, and performance improvement enable the Corporation to strengthen operational integrity while delivering sustainable mineral development.
