Ambassador Simon Nyakoro Sirro is a highly experienced public servant and senior law enforcement professional with over 30 years of service in policing, public safety, and national security. He possesses extensive expertise in security management, institutional leadership, and public administration, with a distinguished career in the Tanzania Police Force.
Ambassador Sirro began his career in the Tanzania Police Force in 1993 and rose steadily through the ranks, holding several senior leadership positions. He ultimately served as Inspector General of Police from 2017, where he led institutional reforms, strengthened community policing, and enhanced national security strategies. During his tenure, he also served as Chairman of the SADC Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation (SARPCCO), where he played a key role in fostering regional collaboration on policing and security matters across Southern Africa.
He was subsequently appointed as Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania to the Republic of Zimbabwe, where he represented Tanzania and advanced bilateral relations between the two countries.
He currently serves as Regional Commissioner for Kigoma Region, where he represents the President in the region and is responsible for overseeing government operations, coordinating development activities, and ensuring peace, security, and effective implementation of national policies.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Education (BSc Ed. Hons) from the University of Dar es Salaam and completed national service training under the Tanzania National Service.
Ambassador Sirro brings to the Board strong leadership experience, deep knowledge of security and governance systems, and a proven track record in public service and institutional management.
